Silt fence sediment barriers help prevent pollutants from entering the environment.
Without properly installed sediment controls, run-off from construction sites can flow into stormwater drains, canals, dams, creeks, rivers, and ultimately the ocean.
This run-off may carry contaminated soil, microplastics, harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and other pollutants that can disrupt and damage delicate aquatic and marine ecosystems.

With the enormous amount of development happening in our region, the environment is under a lot of pressure. We can all help to minimise the impact that this development has on our natural environment, by taking all necessary steps to prevent run-off entering our waterways. One effective way to do this is by erosion control and silt fence sediment barriers are the most efficient.

Due to large-scale habitat destruction over many decades, the natural habitat of the Wallum Sedge Frog has been significantly impacted. As a result, the species is now listed as threatened under both State and Federal government legislation.
To minimise further impacts during earthworks, temporary frog protection barriers—commonly referred to as frog fences—are installed alongside sensitive habitat areas. These barriers help prevent frogs from entering construction zones and reduce the risk of injury or habitat loss.
Our frog protection barriers are constructed using the same durable geotextile material as our silt fences, allowing them to serve a dual purpose as both frog fencing and silt control.
Coastal Silt Fence can assist with the supply and installation of temporary frog protection barriers to support environmental compliance and habitat protection during works.
Using a silt fence plough attachment on our skid steer machine, we plough the silt fence directly into the ground. The silt fence is then supported by hardwood stakes.
This method causes minimal disturbance to the soil, which is ideal for environmentally sensitive areas, and also ensures that the silt fence is firmly embedded into the ground.
There is also less physical strain on the installer, compared to other, more labour intensive methods, minimising the risk of workplace injury.
